Cherepanov Monument Unveiled in Omsk

Beyond the Blueshirts reports that a permanent memorial marking the final resting place of former New York Rangers prospect Alexei Cherepanov was unveiled in Omsk on Wednesday during a somber ceremony attended by Cherepanov’s parents, his Avangard Omsk teammates, club officials, junior team members, friends and fans.

"The design for the sculpture, which depicts the young hockey player in full equipment with his stick raised as if he’d just scored a goal, was based on a sketch by Denis Speransky, who submitted the drawing as part of a competition held earlier this year."

...a very fitting tribute to a talented hocket player.
