Henrik Lundqvist remains a consistently strong starting goaltender, one that could probably use some offensive support and the addition of Alex Auld is an upgrade to the backup position, though he's only started once since coming over from Dallas on waivers. Prospect Chad Johnson played well in five midseason appearances, so he could be part of the team's future plans.
Teams are ranked based on the statistical value of their current goaltenders, with a significantly higher portion of the ranking allocated to the starter's performance.
...15th? 15th? say what? They actually have the Blackhawks, Red Wings and Bruins ahead of the Rangers.
...TSN's criteria is that the rankings are based on the statistical value of the goaltenders. Who has more statistical value to their team than Lundqvist?

My guess is that there are 14 Canadian goalies to rate before getting to the King.
EPIC FAIL. I would say Miller, than Lundy.
Thomas Vokoun, Tuuka Rask, Ilya Bryzgalov, and Miikka Kiprusoff have all been better and their teams all score even less than the Rangers. Yes the Rangers skaters have been disappointing, but those goalies have supported their teams at least as well as Henrik has.
And Ryan Miller and Roberto Luongo are just flat out better. No one talks about a weak glove hand for either of those.
dog eat...you say Luongo is flatout better. look at his career stats. hank's are superior. they are both among the league's top goaltending workhorses, but Hank's stats are better this year, and overall...as good as roberto is. Rask could be great. however, he benefits from only playing in half as many games as Hank. Miller is unquestionably the best goalie right now. Mikka is definitely in any top 5 discussion, and deserves to be almost every year. Anderson and Bryzgalov have had great years, and are just as valuable to their teams. But, the fact remains, every year Hank plays 85-90% of his team's games, posts Vezina quality GAA and Save % behind below average defensemen and offensively challenged forwards. Perhaps his biggest flaw is that he plays so deep in his crease; more than any other goaltender. this leaves him vulnerable to soft outside shots, deflections, and fluke low angle goals. Still, he denies 90% of his opponents' in close scoring chances.
as bad as the rangers have been this year, lundquvist has been a top 10 goalie. if they'd been more consistent as a team, I'm sure he'd have played better. It has to be incredibly frustrating though when your team struggles as much as the Rangers do in their own zone, let alone in the O zone.
Lets be honest here this season goaltending belongs in 15th. cause a good goalie needs a good defense, i would be happy if lundy was traded so he'd have a team that would actually play infront of him
that was a dumb thing to say, i don't want hank to get traded.
