Rangers 5, Thrashers 2

The New York Rangers (30-29-9) defeated the Atlanta Thrashers (28-29-10) by the score of 5-2. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...nice to see this team finally come out with a sense of urgency and take care of a an opponent they need to beat.

...looks like the groin is ok as Gaborik had his best game since before the Olympics.

...man I love how excited Prospal gets when he scores. Great job by the veteran stepping up in a big spot.

...as always when the Rangers faltered, which was most of the second period, Lundqvist was there to bail them out.

...for as good as Hedberg had been against the Rangers was how bad he was tonight. He pretty much single-handedly blew that game for Atlanta.

...it looked like Del Zotto didn't know what to do when he scored it had been so long since he found the back of the net (21 games).

...did I actually see Redden (+1, 3 SOG) on the power play?

...Torts took a lot of heat for sitting Avery, but you can't argue with the results. The question now is whether or not Avery gets sat for a second straight game against the physical Flyers.

...the next biggest game of the year is Sunday afternoon when the Flyers visit MSG. Carcillo better have his head up.

AVery sitting had nothing to do with this win, as Lisin contributed nothing as usual...

This was a gift from Hedberg, but what should be taken away from this is that when you shoot the put on goal, anything can happen...ie prospal and del zotto goals
