Zaba to Get a Start

Steve Zipay at Newsday reports goaltender Matt Zaba, who backed up Henrik Lundqvist in yesterday's game to get rookie goalie Chad Johnson a game down in Hartford, might see some NHL ice time.

"We've gotta make sure we don't lose our development," Tortorella said. "There's gonna be a lot of miles going back and forth with those two guys. We've gone through a whole mapping of the schedule to make sure they both get some games here as we go."

...while I'm excited to see the young goaltenders get a chance, can the Rangers, who will be fighting for a playoff spot until the final day of the season, really afford to throw games away for the development of these two?

...i'd much rather they go out and either trade for or sign (KHL?) a veteran goaltender to spell Lundqvist during the final months of the season.

Everyone was raving about how great Johnson is on this blog but he looked awful against Philly.

We need a back up because the King will be burnt out after the Olympics and we're fighting for 8th place 1/2 way through the season.

the new york "gaboriks" aka rangers should just give up cause they already did...nobody is even playing hockey on this team anymore.

DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE.... is terrible..beyond terrible

Higgins - if i had a nickel for every empty net chance you had....i'd be rich

Drury - Reward an overplayed player for not playing by giving him an olympic spot

Avery - I don't no what torts is telling him but ...he's invisible.

Brashear - should of donated the money that you payed this Nejay.

torts - Can not win a game with 2 lines sorry bro, play your third and forth line more than 1 minute a game...thats why their not scoring.

Sather.... no words

The Bruins just signed Satan as a UFA from Pittsburgh. Anyone think the Rangers should have dropped a player and picked up him?

Like Gaborik I think he's Slovakian...?
