Tortorella Has Mixed March Record; Rangers Are Buyers

With the stretch run upon us, Steve Zipay at Blue Notes takes a look at John Tortorella's past two seasons March record, which is mixed...

In 2006-07, the Lightning came in with 76 points and went 8-8-1 in the last 17 games to finish seventh in the East with 93 (44-33-5). Then, you may recall, they lost 4-2 to the Devils in the first round.

In 2007-08, yikes. In March: 5-8-2, 1-6-1 on the road, finishing the season with 71 points.

Zipay points out that goaltending was an issue with both of those teams, which, obviously, isn't a problem with the Rangers.

Finally, Zipay adds that for those Rangers fans who think the team should be sellers tomorrow, don't count on it.

...as Zipay alluded to when you have Johan Holmqvist and Marc Denis as your goaltenders down the stretch you really can't blame the coach.

I think the headline should read "Rangers aren't sellers" no?
