Coaches Talk Rozsival & Sauer

Katie Strang at Blue Notes has quotes from John Tortorella on the Michal Rozsival injury as well as on the call-up of Mike Sauer...

John Tortorella on Rozsival...

"He’s played pretty well. The key thing with Rozy, he can give you some offense. He’s played defensively, but he gets us out of our end zone, he’s on our power play, and the thing I like about him, he’s been taking hits to make plays. He’s a good player and we’ll miss him, but you can’t bellyache about that, [we] have to find a way to make do without him. He’s involved in our power play, penalty kill, and five-on-five, he’s a guy who will be missed."

...not by Rangers fans he won't.

Jim Schoenfeld on Sauer:

"(He) is pretty much a stay-at-home defenseman who sees the available options for passes and can make a good pass. He's a vocal defenseman, he really helps his partner with his decision-making. He's a good skater. He's strong, he'll clear the front of the net, but he lately has added an offensive element to his game."

...hopefully Sauer fits right in because the Rangers could use a stay-at-home defenseman who'll clear the crease.

Clear the crease. If we had enough of those kinds of players this season, along with not having you-know-who as coach, we would be better.

Redden was soft little ball of Charmin' the other night. I cannot wait til we see somebody come up who is more Girardi or Staal or Mara -like when it comes to playing with a chip on their shoulder, as in delivering some hurt to an opposition player, putting them on their ass.

See what I mean? See what is needed?

Welcome Michael Sauer. I do not expect miracles, just be a man unlike Mr. Redden.
