Hurricanes 3, Rangers 0

The New York Rangers (34-25-8) lost to the Carolina Hurricanes (36-27-5) by the score of 3-0, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports.

...no scoring, terrible power play and lots of in-game line changes. Was Renney back behind the bench tonight? Just a terrible effort from start to finish.

...while the second goal was suspect, the Rangers wasted a tremendous effort by Valiquette, who ended the game with 33 saves. When your back-up, whose been collecting mothballs for the last month, gives you a performance like that you have to find a way to win.

...Redden and Rozsival brought a new meaning to the word awful tonight. Since Renney would never do it, would like to Torts send a message and sit one of these guys Thursday night.

...with the loss the Rangers are on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. I'm still not giving up on the season as they're only one point out of sixth with 15 to go, but it's getting late in the season real quick.

...unfortunately, with the Versus telecast we didn't get to see Tortorella's post game press conference. I'm sure it was a doozy.

...the Rangers have a couple of days off until their next game on Thursday down in Nashville to take on the Predators.

I thought it was a pretty good game, good initial tempo. Even Carolina's coach said they were being aggressive enough because it was so obvious how rough the Rangers were playing.

The first period was super fast and aggressive, despite what Torts said. Yeah, not aggro enough but there were hits, mini scrums and forechecking.

They slacked off a little bit here and there but the game was still exciting...until the last few minutes.

Gomez's and Avery's penalties didn't help and I also don't think Avery should get PP time.
