Rangers Get Pick for Cherepanov's Death

Steve Zipay at Blue Notes reports that the team's request for a compensatory second-round draft pick in the wake of Alexei Cherepanov's death was granted at the NHL GMs meetings.

"The NHLPA has advised the NHL that we have agreed in principle to allow for a compensatory draft pick to the New York Rangers on a one-time, non-precedent setting basis," NHLPA spokesperson Jonathan Weatherdon said.
