Brooks adds that trade talks broke down when Glen Sather wanted something else back with Guerin for the conditional pick.
...Brooks seems to imply that the Rangers decided on Antropov over Guerin. If that's the case, I'm in complete agreement with that decision. The Rangers needed size and Antropov's upside is much bigger than Guerin's. Plus, while Antropov is no speedster, how was the 38-year-old Guerin supposed to keep up in Tortorella's pressure system.

... and not to mention, Antropov leads the team in goals with with 24 and continues to provide much needed offense while the guerin trade would only give the rangers another oldie.
I have to disagree with you. Both players are rentals and the Penguins got Guerin for absolutely nothing. The Rangers gave up a 2nd round pick for a guy whose going to walk at seasons end.
Guerin has played well for the Pens. He adds size, grit, scoring and leadership. For the price, Guerin has more value.
