Drury Named Captain

Larry Brooks at The New York Post announced that Chris Drury has been named the 25th Captain in New York Rangers history...

The New York Rangers will open the season in Prague tomorrow against the Lightning with Chris Drury wearing the captain's "C" and current linemates Scott Gomez and Markus Naslund wearing the associate captains' "A," The Post has learned.

Drury is only the second American-born Captain in Rangers franchise history with Brian Leetch being the first.

Sam Weinman at The Rangers Report has further analysis and quotes from Drury here.

For those of you who don't believe anything Brooks writes, Newyorkrangers.com is confirming this here.

...congratulations to Drury, Gomez and Naslund.

...while I think Renney had Drury pegged as Captain all along his performance on Wednesday definitely sealed the deal.
