Playing Big Is Key to Lundqvist's Early Season Success

In an interview with Jim Baumbach at Newsday, Henrik Lundqvist credited his early season success to a minor change he made to how he stands in the crease saying...

"I'm really trying to play big," he said. "I'm not really big. I'm just trying to play big."

Baumbach says Lundqvist is '...standing up more, instead of crouching down. It's allowing himself more vision, and he has found he has quicker reflexes from that position, as well. The way he explains it, his body is most relaxed in that position, which in turn lets him react quicker.'

...one criticism of Lundqvist last year was that he was vulnerable to high shots. This tweak in his stance should allow him to make the high glove side saves a bit easier. Unlike Brodeur last night. OHHHHH!!!!!
