Red Wings 5, Rangers 4, OT

The New York Rangers (6-1-1) were defeated by the Detroit Red Wings (3-1-1) 5-4 OT tonight. For recap and box score go to newyorkrangers.com.

...while you can never complain about coming out of Detroit with a point, to give up the tying goal on a questionable (at best) too many men on the ice penalty is tough to swallow.

...anybody else have a bad flashback to May when Hossa scored the overtime winner tonight? Me too.

...this was an absolutely entertaining game to watch. Lots of shots, end to end action and big hits. The Rangers, after a two game reprieve, look like they found their speed game tonight.

...Voros continues to impress. Man, I love how he just parks himself in front of the net creating havoc. He now has 5 goals in 8 games. He only had 7 goals in 55 games last year with the Wild.

...you think that was a big goal for Dawes tonight? Might have earned himself a permanent spot in the line-up with his second straight solid effort. Which isn't good news for Fritsche, Prucha and Rissmiller.

...while Gomez looks to have found his game, Drury and Naslund continue to struggle. Renney needs to split them up.

...despite giving up 5 goals I thought Lundqvist (40 saves) played an outstanding game. Lots of big time saves to keep us in it. Can only fault him on the second goal for leaving a bad rebound.

...next up, the circus comes to town as Sean Avery and Dallas Stars visit MSG on Monday. Should be interesting to say the least.

Great game through and through.... unfortunate penalty.

Dawes looked great tonight, keep him in.

I'll be at the Avery game, can't wait! I can see Voros kicking his ass and become that much more THE fan favorite.

I am very happy about the way the rangers played..Although the loss was disapointing at this point in the season I am happy to see that rangers can beat teams like the wings. and getting one point was good

While I am glad Dawes played well and got on the scoresheet, by no means does he deserve a permanent spot. These last few games might buy him a couple more, but if he is invisible in the next 2-3 games or so, then he should sit for someone else. It is going to take consistent, productive play from Fritsche, Prucha, Dawes or Rissmiller to earn a "permanent" spot.

They've all been mediocre. I'm going on past performance. Who as been better than Dawes since last year AS A RANGER. Purcha? Rissmiller or Fritsche?
