The Hockey Gods were smiling on the Rangers tonight as all three games that had playoff implications for the Blueshirts went their way.
First, the 6th place Flyers (82 pts.) fell to the Islanders for the first time in 16 games by the score of 6-4. Next, the 7th place Bruins (82 pts.) were shutout by the Panthers 1-0. Finally, the 9th place Thrashers (80 pts.) lost to the Capitals 2-1.
The Rangers (10th - 78 pts.) now have a game in hand on the Flyers, Bruins and idle Canadiens (8th - 82 pts.). And two games in hand on the Thrashers.
...now it's time for the Rangers to take care of business this weekend in Florida.
