Missing Playoffs Would Sting Rangers' Front Office

Ken Belson at the New York Times takes a look at how the Rangers not making the playoffs will sting financially...

"The loss of playoff revenue would also come as Madison Square Garden spends about $800 million to renovate the 42-year-old arena. Home playoff games would not only generate a few more million dollars to help pay for the work, but would also give the Garden’s salesmen more ammunition to sell season tickets, suites and advertising for next season."

Belson adds that there is one silver lining for Rangers fans as in recent years the Dolans have not raised ticket prices in seasons after they do not make the playoffs.

...this is one of the few reasons I'm conflicted as to whether I want the Rangers to make the playoffs or not.

...the Dolans losing money may be the only way we can get any change (ie firing Sather) with the Rangers.
