With the Bruin's (6th - 87 pts.) victory over Buffalo last night, the Rangers (9th - 84 pts.) will need at least three points in their home-and-home with the Flyers (8th - 86 pts.) to get into the playoffs.
By the way, did you see Montreal (7th - 87 pts.) lose again last night. With only one game left they could actually be in trouble. Maybe I did jinx them.
Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants breaks down the playoff senarios...
- The Bruins need just two points in their final two games - Saturday against the Hurricanes and Sunday at Washington. If the Bruins lose both their remaining games, the Rangers would qualify if they earned three points against the Flyers because while both teams would have 87 points, the Rangers would have one more victory. But because the Bruins beat the Sabres, 3-1, last night, a Rangers’ loss in regulation eliminates them.
- The Canadiens, who lost to the Hurricanes, 5-2, last night and missed a second straight chance to clinch a playoff berth, need one point in their season-finale hosting the Maple Leafs on Saturday
- The Flyers need two points in two games against the Rangers.
Full standings here.
...it's win or go home time for the Rangers.
