Rangers Prospects in National Championship Game

Newyorkrangers.com reports Rangers prospects Derek Stepan, Ryan McDonagh, and Chris Kreider will all be playing in Saturday night's NCAA hockey championship, when Wisconsin faces Boston College.

Wisconsin's 8-1 win over Rochester Institute of Technology in Thursday night's first NCAA Frozen Four semifinal and Boston College's 7-1 rout of No. 1-ranked Miami University in the second semifinal, ensured that the Rangers will have one of their drafted players on the national championship team for the first time since 1993, when 1990 draft pick Jason Weinrich won the title with maine.

Saturday night's championship game will air on ESPN at 7 p.m.

Stepan, McDonagh and Kreider all picked up points in their teams' victories on Thursday. Stepan led the way with a four-point performance -- two goals and two assists -- in the Badgers' rout of RIT. McDonagh had an assist on Stepan's game-winner at 9:38 of the opening period of that victory, and Kreider also had an assist in the Eagles' blowout win.

Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy named Stepan #1 star from last night's Final Four.

...pretty cool that either Stepan or Kreider will have a National Championship and a World Junior Championship Gold Medal in the same season.

...great stuff for the Rangers organization.
