Rangers 4, Flyers 3

The New York Rangers (4-0-0) defeated the Philadelphia Flyers (0-1-0) by the score of 4-3, tonight. For a recap and box score go to newyorkrangers.com.

...was it me or did the Rangers bring in the Mets bullpen to try to hold the lead tonight. Oh, that's right if they would have brought in the Mets bullpen they would have lost.

...the first 20 minutes definitely looked like a team with three games already under their belt going against a team playing in their first game. Final 40 minutes, despite Rangers being outscored 3-0, I thought was played pretty even. Nittymaki kept it close.

...I guess its going to be a different line that steps up every night. Tonight it was the fourth line. Thought Sjostrom played an outstanding game.

...was I hallucinating or did Rozsvial actually shooting the puck from the point on the power play and score.

...Valiquette just absolutely owns the Flyers. Huge saves all night especially at the end. Didn't think any of the goals were his fault.

...Kalinin is starting to worry me. He's not completely awful, he's just been very inconsistent.

...second straight off night for the first line.

...terrible officiating. Should have been a 5 minute boarding on Coburn for the hit from behind on Sjostrom and the second Flyers goal should not have counted. The refs call interference penalties when a goalie gets sneezed on and they don't call Richards skating right through the crease and taking Valiquette out. Awful.

...Korpikoski has stumbled a bit out of the gate. I'm not overly concerned as Dubinsky looked over-matched early last year and he turned out ok. So I'm willing to give him some time.

...speaking of Dubinsky did he hang out with Orr this off-season. Nice fight with Richards.

...Rangers pk is now 18 for 18 this season including a huge kill of a 5 on 3 late in the 3rd.

...off day tomorrow then the Devils are in town Monday.

So far I'm not hyped about the first line even though they've got great potential. The rest of the lines seem to be gelling quite nicely.

Khalinen has had a few turnovers and Redden looks better than he did in pre-season. I'll be at the Devils game on Monday—that'll be the Rangers' first "test."
