Rangers College Prospects Leading the Way

DJ Powers at Hockey's Future reports on two Rangers college prospects (Michigan junior Carl Hagelin and Wisconsin sophomore Derek Stepan) that have gotten their teams back on track...

"...one player that is has been a model of consistency for the Wolverines all season long as been Hagelin. The Swedish-born winger, who is also an early candidate for this year’s Hobey Baker Award, leads Michigan with 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists). He also co-leads the team with five power-play tallies...

...Stepan currently leads Wisconsin with 23 assists and is third on the team with 29 points in 24 appearances. What is most impressive about Stepan doesn’t necessarily show up on a score sheet. The continually blossoming defensive side and his attention to detail in his game have made him an invaluable asset in all situations for Wisconsin, particularly in defensive and penalty-killing situations."

...nice to see Stepan continuing to work on his all-around game coming off his gold medal winning performance at the World Junior Championships.

...first I'm hearing about Hagelin, sounds like a player.

As a Michigan student and rabid Wolverine and Ranger fan, let me tell you that Hagelin, or Bork as we call him, is most definitely a player. This is how much we love him. http://mgoblog.com/sites/mgoblog.com/files/ad7823d15691_B352/swedishflag.png

One of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season.
