Lundqvist Gets Shutout; Gaborik Plays, Scores; Jokinen Scores

Henrik Lundqvist had a 21-save shutout in Sweden's 2-0 win over Germany. For Lundqvist's post game interview click here.

...Lundqvist must have thought he was still playing behind the Blueshirts with the lack of offense from the Swedes yesterday.

While, Marian Gaborik, who was supposed to be out until Saturday, surprised everyone by not only playing, but also scoring in Slovakia's 3-1 loss to the Czech Republic. Jaromir Jagr scored the game winner.

...got to admit I'm routing against the Slovaks. I want Gaborik back in New York resting as soon as possible. Having said that, it was nice to see him get one.

...by the way, how good did Jagr look?

Finally, Olli Jokinen scored a power play goal in Finland's 5-1 win over Belarus.

...would be nice to see Jokinen catch fire in the Olympics and carry it over to the regular season.

I was not very happy when I first read that Gabby was playing in this game, especially after he missed our 3 previous games.

I didn't catch it last night, does he look hurt out there at all?

I hope this doesn't come back to haunt us for our final month and half of the season.

why didn't sather sign jagr for 2 years, $8 million. his playoff performance in 2008 was proof enough that he could still be impactful. no brainer at the time. idiot. it would have been so even for more money

Gaborik didn't have the speed he normally does but otherwise looked fine. I would say Slovakia has no chance against Russia tonight so hopefully Gaborik can rest during the playoff round and come back to New York ready to go hard. Jagr was the best player on the ice.
