Earlier tonight Kevin Allen at USAToday, via Twitter, announced that the Devils had acquired Ilya Kovalchuk from Atlanta for Johnny Oduya, Niclas Bergfors, Patrice Cormier and a 2010 first-round pick.
Earlier in the day Kovalchuk rejected a 12-year, $101 million deal by the Thrashers.
Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy has all the details.
...not that Rangers/Devils needed any spice, but this move brings a whole new dimension to the rivalry. And the first installment is Saturday night at the Garden.
...i think we all remember how well Avery pestered Kovalchuk in the 2007 playoffs. Can't wait to see what he's going to do now that the former Thrasher is a Devil.
