Girardi Explains Himself

Larry Brooks at the New York Post has this quote from Dan Girardi on why he chose not to jump in during the Marian Gaborik/Daniel Carcillo fight...

"I guess I was overthinking it, Girardi said. "I didn't want to take another penalty, because I knew we already had one there [on Brandon Dubinsky], but I should have gotten involved. I should have jumped in. Maybe it was the wrong decision, but it was the decision I made at the time.

"If there's a next time, I would go."

...i like Girardi. I think he's been a solid defenseman for the Rangers. But I think he deserves to sit the next game for his inaction. If for no other reason than to send a message to the rest of the team to toughen up.

I hope he lost sleep.

WHAT ever. SOMEBODY should have jumped in. That was totally embarrassing the league's highest scorer had to fight. Yes, he dropped the gloves himself but so did Ovechkin...he took his helmet off...watch this...

A dude off the Capitals BENCH jumped on the ice to fight to stand up for his team's MVP.

rangers last night was the biggest P*ssy ATtempt at a hockey game
they Brought nothing to the table
They got nothing back

Plus girardi shouldn't be blamed for not stepping
Gaborik can stand on his two feet
however
Guy skates straight into Lundy
(what do the rangers do?)
NOTHING, for a guy who carries the whole team on his back everynight...they can't back him up?
thanks sather see ya next year
watching this 500 team that puts no effort isnt fun anymore

BENCH GIRARDI???? What about the rest of the guys standing around? Dubinsky?? What if Gaborik doesnt drop the gloves, and draws a penalty??/

Benching players is not how you get players to stick up for one another....Its something you either you do or dont do...

However, having an enforcer inthe lineup that other teams respect/fear is something this team lacks...

I said in an earlier post that Voros is not the guy...while he has a place in the lineup and is willing to standup for his teammates....getting pummeled more nots that not....certainly is not the way to go....he looked scared fighting asham..and for good reason as a last season he took a beat by asham(find that clip)...

I do agree with Adam.....Asham clearly runs our goalie and franchise player and everyone on the ice just stands there...This team is soft, and is has been shutout 3 out of the last 6 games....

How do I get to work for the Dolans, because clearly it doesnt matter if you perform or not...you get to keep you overpaid job...FU SATHER

Fleisch, if you watch the clip, Dubinsky and Prospal are tied up with other Flyers and Girardi is literally just standing there watching. Plus at the very end you can see Dubinsky flying in but stopped by a linesman. So yes Girardi needs to be benched for not sticking up for a teammate. And the most important one at that.

Girardi who was probably our best defensemen on the ice is going to be benched for not being a 3rd man in....Its still not a reason to bench a player...especially when you dont really have a replacement....
Should Callahan be benched for being invisible last night too.

Should Staal be benched for not making a better play on the first gol or having the 2nd goal go in off his skate....
