According to Larry Brooks at the New York Post, its not all doom and gloom for the Rangers right now...
"...Here's the good news for the Rangers: Martin Straka, who sustained a concussion in Edmonton on Saturday, rode the stationary bike yesterday and checked out perfectly afterward. If the vitally important winger continues to progress without a setback, he could return to the lineup for Monday night's game in Pittsburgh.
Here's a second piece of good news: the combination of the slump plus the injuries to Straka and Sean Avery has not sent GM Glen Sather into a panic mode.
There will be no band-aid deals in which the Blueshirts surrender value for emergency replacements. In other words, Petr Prucha is not being sent to Columbus for David Vyborny.
And here's a third piece of good news: on Tuesday, with his team needing Jaromir Jagr to be at his best, the captain responded. Jagr is elevating his game as the season progresses; steadily if not necessarily dramatically..."
...while I agree with Brooks that these are great off the ice news, the on the ice situation is much more bleak. How I long for the days of November when we were only complaining about the lack of scoring.
