"Despite a couple of run-ins with Sean Avery, Matt Cooke said he doesn't hold any ill will for the Rangers' infamous agitator...
...In 2003, Avery, then with the Red Wings, jumped Cooke to fight. He wouldn't.
Avery said then: 'I don't think it is a secret around the league that Matt Cooke doesn't fight. I guess that's my fault for trying to fight him. He's never fought. It's just the way he is.'

In the '03-'04 season, when Avery was with the Kings, he offered up Cooke when ESPN asked who he'd choose if he could 'have one free punch at any NHL player.'..."
...maybe Craig Conroy was right when he said Avery was his own best publicist. This guy has a story written about him in every opponent's city on game day. Bettman should have Avery doing PR for the league.
