Straka Out With Concussion; Shanny Hurting

Over at Blue Notes, Steve Zipay is reporting that Martin Straka is out indefinitely with a concussion and Brendan Shanahan did not skate today due to a bruised knee...

"In a serious blow to the Rangers' offense, Martin Straka, who missed 15 games with a broken finger, but sparked a resurgence of the first line when he returned, is out indefinitely with a concussion he suffered Saturday in the Edmonton game. Nigel Dawes skated in Straka's spot alongisde Jaromir Jagr and Scott Gomez in practice today.

Also not skating was Brendan Shanahan, whose left knee injury was described as a bad bruise and coach Tom Renney described the veteran's status as "day-to-day." Greg Moore skated in Shanahan's place with Chris Drury and Sean Avery. If Shanahan can't play, it is lkely those would be the top two lines against Tampa..."

...this is a big blow to the Rangers, as the first line has been playing really well. One positive would be Dawes getting some valuable playing time on the first line with Jagr.
