Blue Jackets Ask for Dubinsky; Trade Talks Stall

According to Kevin Paul Dupont at the Boston Globe, trade talks between the Rangers and Blue Jackets broke down when Columbus asked for Brandon Dubinsky...

"...Rumors in and out of the break had the Blue Jackets and Blueshirts ready to swap, with the Rangers keen on acquiring Czech winger David Vyborny. But no dice. Rumors have it that the Jackets wanted another forward, Brandon Dubinsky, in the swap, but the Rangers would prefer to part with Petr Prucha..."

...that would have been one of the all-time bonehead moves if Sather would have traded Dubinsky for Vyborny. Dubinsky has proven that he belongs in the league and will only get better as he matures. While Vyborny is another soft European I can live without.

...Not that I needed this to prove my case, but here is a stat breakdown:

Vyborny, 32 years old, 3 goals, 8 assists, currently on the IR with groin injury.

Dubinsky, 21 years old, 4 goals, 9 assists, currently healthy.

Why trade Pru or Brandon, give em' time to develope. If anything send Prucha to the minors so he can work with the coaches there and score some goals to gain confidence. Usually you want to get younger not older. We don't need another 30 year old czech.
