Wade Redden Anyone?

Darren Dreger at TSN, blogs about the difficulties the Ottawa Senator's might have resigning Wade Reden next year...

"...Veteran defenseman Wade Redden is the favored target largely because he is in the final year of a contract that pays him $6.5 million.

Unless the Senators re-sign Redden, he will become an unrestricted free agent and the Senators will have to face the possibility he may walk away from the only NHL team he has ever played for..."

...as I stated in a previous post the Rangers need an offensive defenseman. Redden scored 50 points last year (30 on the power play) for Ottawa and has 2 goals and 6 assists this season.

...if Ottawa feels they won't be able to sign him they might be willing to trade him this year. I think Sather would be smart to at least inquire. Sather could possibly offer Straka (who is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this year), who would add veteran playoff experience, along with a defensive prospect. This would also solve our logjam at forward.
