The theme of today's pregame newspaper articles obviously have to do with the Rangers not winning a road game this year (0-5-1). The Daily News, Newsday and New York Post.
...I'm not too concerned with the Rangers' slow start on the road. If they continue to play the way they did Thursday night against the Penguins they will be just fine.
...I really like the line combinations right now, it seems like they have a lot of chemistry already.
...looks like Lundqvist will be in goal again tonight. We'll probably see Valiquette on Wednesday against the Devils in Newark.
Sam Weinman of the New York Journal, has a great article on Shanahan's leadership being in the same mold as Messier...
"...the comparisons between the two are inevitable, especially now that Messier is headed into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday, and the 38-year-old Shanahan shows up for work in buildings where Messier's face is glowering down from dozens of photos. Both are power forwards who relied as much on guile as they did on skill. Both have established themselves as commanding, charismatic leaders. And both learned when to follow as well..."
...while I feel that Messier is the greatest leader in the history of team sports, I agree with Weinman that Shanahan is in the same mold.

I love Shanny but please don't compare him to Messier. Messier is in a class by himself, best leader in sports history.
