Renney & Lunqvist in THN Quarter Pole Awards

Edward Fraser over at The Hockey News gives the top early-season performers their due based on the NHL’s year-end awards.

Fraser says Henrick Lundqvist is a runner-up to Boston's Tim Thomas for the Vezina Trophy and Tom Renney is also a runner-up to San Jose's Todd McLellan for the Jack Adams Trophy.

...while Renney has done an outstanding job bringing this franchise back to respectability, I don't think you're going to find too many Ranger fans that think he should be in the running for the Jack Adams this year, despite the team's Eastern Conference leading 18 wins.

I disagree with you on Renney...While he needs to improve the Power Play, he has coached a team into 1st place in the division and I think the conference, after losing the majority of your front and back lines from the season before, as well as coaching through an insane preseason and European opener to the season.

I agree he's been good. But not Jack Adams material.
