Eklund: More on Rangers/Oilers Trade Talks

Eklund at HockeyBuzz continues to report on a possible trade between the Rangers and Oilers that would allow the Blueshirts to open up enough cap space to sign Mats Sundin.

Eklund says he's not hearing any definitive trade possibilities but names it sounds like the Rangers are interested in are D Tom Gilbert (2g, 12a), C Rob Schremp (0g, 3a), Ladislav Smid (0g, 2a), G Mathieu Garon and former North Dakota star Taylor Chorney, and minor league tough guy D-man Theo Peckham.

The Oilers are interested in bigger names like Michal Rosival or Brandon Dubinsky as well as prospect Evgeni Grachev.

...if the Rangers only reason for making this trade is to open up cap space for Sundin, I'd think Rozsival is the guy they're trying to move in return for a low cost defenseman like Smid or Peckham. It doesn't make much sense for the Rangers to be interested in Gilbert who is making $4 million a year.

...the Rangers better walk away if the Oilers are also trying to get Grachev in a package deal.

Please stop citing Eklund as a legit source for Ranger news as anyone who steals reports from others is a fraud.

All you do when you cite his stuff is help him make money that he does not deserve.

You have a good site here so please don't pollute it with Eklund nonsense
