1993: Leetch Suffers Freak Injury

In the aftermath of Joe Sakic's snowblower incident, Pierre LeBrun at ESPN.com gives his list of top five freak injuries including one from Ranger great Brian Leetch...

2. Brian Leetch, March 1993: The star New York Rangers defenseman slipped on a patch of ice while getting out of a cab in Manhattan. The result? A fractured fibula. At the time, it added to the lore of the Rangers Curse, since the team had not won the Cup since 1940. A year later, however, Leetch and his teammates would sip champagne from Lord Stanley's mug.
