Avery Suspended For Six Games

The NHL announced today that Dallas Stars forward Sean Avery has been suspended for six games without pay, retroactive to Tuesday's game in Calgary, as a result of the comments he made Tuesday morning after the his team’s morning skate at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

Avery also agreed to seek professional anger-management evaluation and, if necessary, structured counseling in light of his pattern of behavior, which the NHL has deemed unacceptable and antisocial.

...this punishment is obviously based more on the individual than the actual event. Having said that six games really isn't that big of a deal, Avery's bigger problem is going to be if the Stars organization will allow him to play for them again and if they do, whether the current players will forgive him and welcome him back into the locker room.

Completely absurd! Six games for making a comment. Once again Bettman's got his head way up his ass! You've got players who leave their feet and lead with the elbow on a regular basis(Ruutu), who get away with a slap on the wrist(2 games). But Avery, who is a douche bag, gets 6 games for making a comment. What a joke!
