Renney on the Hot Seat?

Bruce Garrioch at the Ottawa Sun is also reporting...

"Speaking of the Rangers, keep an eye on coach Tom Renney. There are whispers that if they don't start winning more consistently, Renney could be in trouble."

Garrioch says former Toronto Maple Leafs coach Pat Quinn could be a possible replacement.

...i've done my fair share of Renney bashing on this blog, but no way he's on the hot seat right now. He's done too much for this franchise and we're in first place in the Division. That would be a pretty low move by Sather and especially the Dolans who stuck by Isaiah Thomas for so long.

Renney has reached his limit. There are too many shortcomings on this team that are not being addressed by the coaching staff. They are overmatched and should ALL be replaced.

Bring in Laviolette, Tortorella or even Nolan.

The vets on this team need a kick in the ass, and the kids need some positive reinforcement. The exact opposite of Renney's coaching style.

Bye Bye Renney.

I agree. Renney did a good job bringing this team back from the bottom, but he doesn't appear to have what it takes to get them to the next level.

I'm with you King. Last season I wrote a post comparing Renney to Buck Schowalter check it out here: http://nyrangersblog.blogspot.com/2008/04/renney-to-blame-for-hollweg.html

Renny need to show the team video of the beginning of the season when they forechecked hard on the puck and attacted the puck carrier in the nuetral zone. the current team send in one forechecker and the other fowards skate backward allowing the opposition to free wheel through the nuetral zone. this type of play makes the dee back in and typivally puck watch. as for offense the transition from dee to O from the goal line is much harder than from the center ice red line....Power Play Voros, Betts and Orr plant them in front of the net and let it fly...

Are you kidding me? This team is still in 1st place and you want to fie the coach?
While they are not playing great hockey at the moment, everyone loved this team and the coach in October and early November, now we hit a rough spot in the season and the rangers should fire the head coach...Why not trade Lundqvist!!! 17 goals in 3 games, he should be gone!!!
This is the probelm with NY, no patience!!!!
While Laviolette and Tortorella have won Cups they have also been fired from there respective organizations, so its obviously not always on the coach!!

The only coach that should be fired is Perry Pearn....

I didn't say fire him just yet, just that he has taken this team as far as it is going to go. This was more of a suggestion for next season, not right now.

You are right fleish, we still are in 1st (although we have played many more games than any other team) and Lundqvist has been slumping, so we should not be making panic moves. But long term, I really don't have faith in Renney that he can get us past the 2nd round.
