The Penguins official website reports that Pittsburgh has signed former Ranger defenseman Corey Potter.The deal is for the 2010-11 season and is a two-way contract that will pay Potter $500,000 at the NHL level.
Potter, 26, has played in eight career NHL games with the New York Rangers, recording two points (1G-1A).
Earlier this month Larry Brooks at the New York Post reported Potter, a UFA, was looking to bolt the Rangers.
...not happy about this. Another lost defenseman (also Heikkinen) because they're not getting a chance due to Redden.

like i've said previously the wolfpack is lacking dmen losing 1/2 their defense from last yr in potter heikkinen and sanguinetti
And when the Wolfpack are lacking the Rangers are lacking also.

We're still not in bad shape at all for defense.
whenever ive seen potter ive been impressed with his defense and positioning, i thought if he was given a fair shake hed be just as pivotal as girardi is for us and for a lot cheaper
I'd say that Redden is not the only one preventing these guys from getting a chance. So are Gilroy and MDZ who were deemed advanced enough to skip straight to the NHL. If anything, having kids who can't check skipped ahead of Potter and Heikkinen must have been a huge slap to their faces since they've spent time honing their 2-way games as they were told to.
