Lurkers Need to Join the Party

With Rangers news at a crawl this morning, RIP George Steinbrenner, I need to address something on the blog.

For the last month or so I've seen the traffic on the blog spike to numbers I could never imagine when I started this thing.

However, despite the fact that I've opened up the comments, it seems like the same 20 or so readers are commenting.

Now while I so appreciate those readers' participation as they've added so much to the blog, I'm asking all those lurkers out there to join the fun. No one's going to bite, well maybe LI Joe.

I want everyone out there to leave their opinions, feelings, thoughts, whatever on the news and commentary I'm posting. The increase in commenters will really improve the appeal of the blog as it can become an even better place to come and talk with real Ranger fans about your beloved Blueshirts.

Also the additional views, I feel, will really add a lot to the conversation. And please if you do decide to jump in use a name. No anonymous posting.

Again, I appreciate everyone visiting the blog and spreading the word, but I would love to see all of you, even if it's to just say hello, to start adding to the comments. Thank you.

Hi

I've been reading your blog quite recently for all news on the Rangers. Unfortunatly not a lot of NYR news makes the sports pages over here (UK) so this blog is a one-stop-shop for all things NYR related!

Fantastic job btw, looking forward to the new season!

Well now i feel bad. I have an iphone and i check the blog at least every hour. Been doing this for at least a year. I tried commenting recently and it didnt work fast enough for me, but ill be commenting from now on. I read way too much not to. No contest entry for me though, too many bad words for redden and sather.

Kev,
great blog, been checking it out for over a year...don't let it go to your head though.
lots of us like to just check up and see latest news rather than comment on everything.
i am sure once september rolls around and the season gets underway you will be pleasantly surprised at all the comments.
keep up the good work!
P.S. more of the actual rangers than you know follow your blog too.

Kevin DeLury said...

Pete82, I would never let this go to my head. I just really enjoy getting all the information out to Ranger fans and thought additional comments would really add to it.

I appreciate you saying that Rangers actually follow this blog, but I seriously doubt it.

This blog is awesome. I check it constantly..keep it up Kevin! Now only if Sather could be fired and Redden would be sent down, life would be complete.

As long as this doesn't turn into the comments section of the Rangers LoHud blog....I say comment away!

hey bud. definitely one of the best blogs around for the blueshirts. i am constantly looking at several blogs and rumor pages not only for the rangers but for the rest of the league as well... the only problem is that whenever i come to a page where im reading something about the rangers i get infuriated. im not one of those guys that goes to the fire sather rallys. then again i am not a supporter of him but i figured before i start bashing glen id give him another shot at seeing what he does this year and i cant really see how he is helping this team. i do agree with prospal signing. he was a gamble and definitely came out as a win. Christensen was ok but i would have liked to see him go for the money he is getting. i read a rumor saying the rangers were interested in zherdev before he signed with the flyers but then turned him down because he was asking for too much. now i see that he has signed a 1 year for 2 million. lets smell the coffee gentlemen as much as i hear everyone say he is lazy and is not worth the risk i think everyone will take a player that could put up 60-70 points a year for 2 million. im also hearing things like pavol demitra has 2 offers from russia but is waiting to hear from the rangers... now this is another thing that makes me want to cry and making me thing twice about not attending that rally infront of msg =)does anyone feel the same way i do? am i alone on this? please leave me some good rumors about who the boys might sign this year. awesome blog keep it up

Jack, that is why I want as many people commenting as possible. Over at the Rangers Report it seems like there's a little click (aka the Boneheads) that don't want outsiders.

Trying to avoid that.

Mikey, I like it. Sorry I had to.

Well, I'll jump in and say hi. Been reading since the beginning of last season and your blog has really helped me stay on top of what's going on with my beloved Blueshirts. I'm a bit of a hockey n00b (only been watching a few years) so I generally don't feel like I know enough to get involved with discussions on forums like this, but reading your blog has really helped me learn a lot the last year, so thanks! :)

Keep up the good work man - you've definitely got the best of the Rangers blogs I've read.

I'll admit it! i am a lurker on this blog! haha, i post on andrew gross' blog frequently during the season, time to time during the off season. i will try to post some comments here too, even though i am not as knowledgable as most of you here!! my husband are i are both die hard hockey fans and follow all news, no mater what team it is...unfortunately, the only down side is he is a devils fan! BOO! somehow we have made our marriage work aside from all our fights during the season! LOL

Kevin DeLury said...

Steph, is he a face painter aka Puddy from Seinfeld. "Got to support the team."

I am one of these lurkers...I admittedly check this blog probably 3-4 times a day. It's the first site I go to for my Ranger news. Keep up the great work man!

Okay...low man on the rangers in plus/minus last year...Del Zotto...kid has to improve on that this year...any comments ?

Kevin DeLury said...

I think he will as long as Torts keeps him as far away from Redden as possible.

In the morning I have a routine. I sit down for a cup of coffee and check my bookmarked sports websites & blogs to keep myself constantly up to speed with the fast-paced sports world. One of the most reliable, straight-forward, and down to earth blogs I read is this one. Anything Rangers related (my favorite sports team btw) I come to you first. Keep up the great work!

Hey I've read your blog every day for I'm not sure how long. I've only commented a few times here and there, but I'm a big fan. Keep up the good work!

Kevin DeLury said...

Wow 33 comments!!! That's obnoxious. Overwhelmed by the response and love. You have no idea what that means to me.

I promise to keep up the hard work and make sure you have excess to everything Rangers on the net.

Thanks for the dedication to all things NYR related. I used to go to the official Rangers website before my friend turned me on to this blog. Great work! It's great to get news from a fellow fan!

I love your blog and I've gotten all of my teamates and buddies to add it to their "favorites tab." I just moved to Illinois a few days ago, and I am going to be relying on your blog for most of my NYR info, outside of the texts and calls I'll get from family. Thanks for all you do.

Kevin
Great site.
I've been lurking for over a year and appreciate the one stop shopping on all Ranger news.
Summmer news always brings hope for the upcoming season. Thanks for keeping it going...

AnnoyingJoe said...

want to know why this blog is so great? I'll tell you. Kevin does a great pre-game before each game (duh) where he breaks down the match up and gives a link to an opponents blog. Go ahead and click on one of these links and you will find yourself immersed in a quagmire of bias, self-serving BS (especially flyers blogs.) It will make you appreciate this blog for what it is; an honest assessment of our favorite franchise.

Kevin DeLury said...

Again I so appreciate all your comments. I guess calling out the lurkers was the way to get comments. 43!!! WOW!!!!

wonderin said...

Sorry Kevin...Del Zotto was matched up with Girardi 50% of the time, Rosival 43% of the time and Redden less than 1% of the time according to DobberHockey...his poor plus/minus had nothing to do with Redden...

Kevin DeLury said...

wonderin, I didn't mean that his +/- last year was due to Redden, I just meant keeping him away from Redden this year would be helpful. More of a joke than anything.

Does it count as lurking if you read every day, but don't always post? My favorite thing about your blog is the off-ice stuff you dig up. Well, at least in the summer when it's too quiet for hockey fans. Keep up the good work and watch for my lame opinions once the season actually starts and there are tangible things to discuss. I'm lousy at off-season speculation!
