Rangers Release Longtime European Scout

Jim Matheson at the Edmonton Journal reports that the Rangers have released longtime European scout Crister Rockstrom.

Rockstrom was the man behind bringing Henrik Lundqvist to the Rangers. He also helped with the drafting of Kim Johnsson, Mattias Norstrom and Fedor Tyutim among others.

Since the Rangers moved Andres Hedberg to Head of European scouting three years ago Rockstrom has not had as much influence.

Rockstrom is rumored to be replaced by Kent Nilsson who played under Sather in Edmonton.

...Rockstrom's legacy is obviously going to be that he is the man who brought Ranger fans "The King."

Getting Nilsson would be a great move considering how well Edmonton has drafted the last few years....oh wait...
