Free Agent Tracker

Ok, wife and one daughter by the pool and the other taking a nap. Here's the latest...

1:33 p.m.
OK enough for now. I'll be back tonight for a recap. Enjoy!!!

1:29 p.m.
Former Ranger backup goaltender Alex Auld to Montreal for 1-year $1 million. (TSN - James Duthie)

...what's he going to do with that awesome Rangers mask? Auction anyone?

1:27 p.m.
Rangers have about $11 millioon left under hard cap. (Blue Notes)

1:24 p.m.
Larry Brooks reacts to rumors that Rangers are shipping Callahan to Calgary. P.S. They're not true. (Larry Brooks)

1:21 p.m.
Gross says Christensen deal is 2-years $1.85 million per. (Rangers Rants)

...discount shopping for Sather today.

1:12 p.m.
Pittsburgh signs D Michalek. 5-years $20 million. (Bob McKenzie)

...i know a lot of you were hoping for the Rangers to land Michalek. No room for him on the backline. Unless Redden's sent to Hartford. I wouldn't get my hopes up on a big time guy coming in today.

1:08 p.m.
Rangers officially sign Stepan. (newyorkrangers.com)

...i think it was Zipay who reported earlier in the week that Ranger brass was rooting for Stepan to make the club out of camp. That would be sweet.

1:04 p.m.
Lightning sign St. Louis to 4-year contract extension. $22.5 million for the 4-years. (TBLightning)

1:02 p.m.
Babcock signs with Carolina 1-year $1.4 million. (TheHockeyNews)

12:59 p.m.
Tanguay re-signs with Flames for 1-year $1,7 million. (TSN)

12:57 p.m.
Flyers re-sign Coburn two-years $3.2 million per. (TSN)

12:55 p.m.
Sergie Gonchar signs 3-year deal with $5.5 per with Senators. (TSN)

12:50 p.m.
Rangers re-sign Erik Christensen to a two-year deal. (newyorkrangers.com)

...here's hoping Christensen and Gaborik can have the same chemistry as last season.

12:49 p.m.
Rangers sign Martin Biron to a two-year $875,000 per year contact securing their backup goaltending situation. (newyorkrangers.com)

...great signing. Torts should have no hesitation giving Biron 25 starts this season. And the most important thing is they got him cheap.

LOL you're a blogging beast. Thanks!

Most of the commenters on TSN NHL seem to think was a very good signing despite his horrible stats last season. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=326240

True or not, the words "shipping Callahan to Calgary" made me cringe.

I think Gross is saying that Christiansen's deal is $1.85 over the two years, meaning that its $925,000 per year.

WE LOST JODY SHELLEY MAN.

Boogaard 1,65M/4 yrs. Why?:(

FYE-AH SATE-AH!!!

Unknown said...

Boogaard barely deserves 1.65MM over all 4 of those years. Sather is a fucking moron. We all thought there was no way to screw this team, considering the cap situation. Amazing.

boogard at 1.6 for four years in total would have been acceptable, sather just blew tht extra 2 million cap raise on boogaard... reallly!?!?!?

Philadelphia signed Jody Shelly......oooooooooookkkk?!?? WTF.

Is he really 6'7" 270?

What a waste of 3M $. First Brashear, now him.
Who is predicted to be number 1 in next entry draft?

To make things worse, Jody Shelley signed with Philly!
This is Brashear for Betts all over again!!

Doug said...

First Brashear, now Boogaard?! This is all because we stupidly let Orr go. It's like Sather picks out of a hat most hated players then signs them.

Do you think Sather just put aside $2.5MM a year for an enforcer and back-up goalie?? Then, signed Biron for cheap and tossed the rest at Boogy, not realizing it would never take $1.65MM/year to actually sign him??

Hear the rangers are talking to frolov... thats exciting... and resigned prospal for 1 year... Frolov is good.

Kevin DeLury said...

Disagree that this is Betts for Brashear all over again. Totally different animal.

Some of you are a bunch of whining clowns. If Boogaard fits in and really fills the role that we desperately need this will be a great signing. You people have to understand Jody Shelley got over 3mil a year from the Flyers. So lets stop crying and see how Boogaard does. I am hoping for Frolov. He is talented and seems like he wants a fresh start somewhere to show he is an elite force.

shelley got 3 mm in total approx or about 1 mm a yr not 3 mm a yr

Its hard to take this team seriously. You have got to be kidding me, swiss cheese Biron as a 20 game backup-Boogaard at 1.6M/per and plays half the yr and hasn't scored in 5 yrs. We resign our #1 center in EC-why because he had chemistry(not production) with Gabby.LMAO.This team got worse not better. All one can do is watch and hope our prospects can win jobs that these vets shouldn't have. The next three years are shot, can't tell me we can win with Redden Rozi and Dru in the lineup taking up 18M in cap space or whatever it is.

rick

drury and rozy only 2 yrs not 3. BUT redden and boogaard are a good start in putting us in cap hell for yrs 3 and 4. although having said that i would neither finishes his contract in yrs 3 or 4 as rangers at least in nhl level

Rick said...

2 yrs for Dru and Rozi-ooopppsss-thanks for setting me straight on that. Thats still too many years of not moving forward. Redden will never be moved to the AHL or traded. We are married to that contract and Dolan could care less about one mistake. No chance he moves said contract.

LI Joe said...

rick - i will bet you any amt of money redden does not finish hios contract in the nhl as a ranger.

2 yrs cba expires. very very likely there will be amnesty buyouts at that point with no cap hits. or ahl or whatever but certainly not as a ranger all 4 yrs. no more than 2 and likely less than that.

you make me seem like a positive fan with the doom and gloom and i'm far from that.
