Same Line-up, Possibly Different Line Combinations

While he says that he'll use the same line-up, Tom Renney hinted that he might go with new line combinations reports Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants.

Gross also has this quote from Renney on his coaching philosophy...

"It's easy to fall into the trap of wanting to go score and create all sorts of magical things because it's more sexy and you ready (sp) about it the next day," Renney said. "Teams taht (sp) don't worry about that and really want to make sure they're tidy defensively often times get to read abouot (sp) how their offensive game was at least enough, as a team, the next morning. And that's what we're looking for."

Finally, Gross has some tidbits on Redden, Betts, Lundqvist and Korpikoski.

Oh yeah, and obviously Henrik Lundqvist is back between the pipes.

...why wouldn't Renney change the line combinations? It's not like chemistry means anything.

...the only problem with Renney's philosophy is that the Rangers offense hasn't been enough recently. Bottom line is you can play the greatest defense in the world, but you can't win if you don't score.

The Problem is this team is not playing good defense.
HAving 2 defensemen (Kalinin and Rozival) on your team in the bottom 5 of the league in +/- is not going to help, anfd Kalinin is a league worst -17

I'll have to disagree that the Rangers problem is defense because despite the awful plus/minus of everyone on the team they still have the 6th best goals against in the league.

I know that has everything to do with Lundqvist, but it still shows that keeping the puck out of the net isn't the problem. It's putting it in, where they rank 29th out of 30 teams with an average of 2.30 goals-a-game.
