Canadiens 6, Rangers 2

The New York Rangers (18-9-2) lost to the Montreal Canadiens (15-6-4) by the score of 6-2, tonight. For a full recap and box score go to newyorkrangers.com.

...that my friends was a beating. Maybe Montreal does deserve five starters in the All-Star game.

...one of the worst defensive performances in recent memory. Breakdowns on every level. It seemed as if Montreal was playing man-up the whole game. Anyone who doesn't think Betts is important to this team needs to think again. I'm not saying the Rangers win if he's in the line-up, but I can tell you they wouldn't have looked so lost on defense.

...i give credit to Lundqvist for hanging in there. I kept waiting for him to pull himself again.

...it might officially be time to call up a seventh defenseman. Kalinin who started out slowly then picked it up is now back to struggling again. This might also be accelerated with Redden leaving tonight's game in the second period with a lower body injury. Anybody concerned if Redden has to miss an extended period of time? Me neither.

...on a positive note at least we scored a power play goal tonight. Looks like the pre-game meeting worked.

...what I'd like to know is what happened to the Rangers team that started the season? That team out-skated every opponent and was exciting to watch. This current one resembles the boring, defensive, late 90s Devils that we Ranger fans loathed so much. Except those Devils teams won and would never give up six goals. Did the players get worn out from that style of play or did Renney decide fast paced hockey was too risky and needed to bring back the defense first philosophy? It reminds me of last year when the Renney finally found line combinations that worked and the Rangers were scoring 4 and 5 goals a night, then after needing to change the lines due to a Gomez injury, Renney never re-united the lines once Gomez came back because the new ones were better defensively.

...great pre-game ceremony. Loved the old school brown goalie equipment worn by Price tonight.

...i'm starting to say this way too much, but they need to just put this game behind them and get ready for the Flames on Sunday.

I guess it was very fortunate not seeing the game after being at the Garden for the Pitts. win.

I'll watch some of the recap Friday afternoon but from your wrapup it seems as if this team will never been a better team in a best of seven match-up...prove me wrong!

I'll be at the Calgary and I'll expect them to lose to this far, far West coast team....

All I know is that as much as I hated watching that game last night I kept watching because for some reason whenever Sam announces that Zherdev has the puck I am glued to the tv waiting for him to do something great. His pass last night was awesome...great patience.
