At The New York Post, Jay Greenberg writes...
Two goals each in two of the last three games have made the Ranger power play sit up in the coffin where it has lain. Dare Tom Renney pronounce the eighth-worst unit statistically in the NHL cured?...
"Desperation, urgency, paying the price at the net, getting to the loose pucks, outworking the penalty kill," he (Renney) said.
That just about sums up the secret of power-play success, except for the puck actually entering the net part, which won't happen with more consistent frequency without better pointmen.
...I'm actually happy with our pointmen right now. I hate to say it, because I like Tyutin, but the turn-around has coincided with him being taken off the power play. I'm just sayin'.
...this revival couldn't have come at a better time with the playoffs on the horizon.
