See You In The Second Round

Tonight the New York Rangers defeated the New Jersey Devils by a score of 5-3 winning their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal match-up 4-1. For a full recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

...they couldn't make it easy for us could they. One second we're up 4-1 and the Devils are making tee times, the next thing you know a puck hits off Dubinsky's face and we have a game. But great job by the Rangers holding on and clinching a berth in the second round. I got a little nervous in the third period because I was reminded of the Montreal debacle, but thankfully the Devils have a lot less offense and John Madden has no move on a penalty shot.

...I know guys had more points than him tonight, but to me Avery was the #1 star. This guy had a target on his back from the drop of the puck. He was hit late and high all night without a single penalty called. And what did Avery do? He played hockey. He could have easily taken a retaliatory penalty which would have put the Rangers in a hole. Instead he showed the hockey world he's more than an agitator he's an integral part of the Rangers' success.

...I don't think anyone has more drive and determination on this team than Callahan. His hard nose play behind the Devil goal at the end of the game was, for me, the play of the game. Great job.

...our so called high priced regular season busts, Gomez & Drury, ended the series with a combined five goals and five assists in the five games.

...if Jagr's going to play like this throughout the playoffs, I don't think we'll be worrying about his contract situation during the off-season.

...thought Hank was shaky early, but was absolutely outstanding late.

...during this series I lost a lot of respect for Brodeur with all of his diving and complaining. And tonight he capped it off by refusing to shake Avery's hand during the traditional post series handshake. Absolutely classless.

...it'll be nice to sit back and watch a little stress free hockey until we find out who we're playing.
