Steve Zipay at Newsday reports on the Devils accusing the Rangers of running Brodeur..."Now, with a 3-1 lead and on the brink of eliminating the Devils in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, they stand accused of crashing goaltender Martin Brodeur's party. Devils coach Brent Sutter wants his troops, in turn, to press the attack on Henrik Lundqvist."
Lynn Zinser at the New York Times has more on the Rangers net crashing..."For the Rangers, the Devils’ protests were humorous. Coach Tom Renney has yelled himself nearly blue all season trying to get the Rangers to be a better net-crashing team. Now that they are finally following instructions, the Devils are crying foul.
John Dellapina at The Daily News says some Rangers have experience coming back from 3-1 deficits and aren't taking anything for granted..."Jagr played on Pittsburgh teams that in 1992 and 1995 rallied from 3-1 deficits to win series (both against Washington). Gomez vividly recalls his 2000 Eastern Conference Finals with the Devils, when they came back from 3-1 down to beat Philadelphia en route to winning the Stanley Cup."
At The New York Post, Larry Brooks reports on how winning the Conn Smythe would give Jagr another year with the Rangers..."Should the Rangers advance to the Stanley Cup Final, a select number of members of the Professional Hockey Writers' Assn., including those of us who cover the team throughout the season, would be thrust into a conflict of interest, for the final step in triggering the automatic one-year extension at $8.36M (with a cap hit of $4.94M) is Jagr winning the Conn Smythe Trophy."
