Steve Zipay at Newsday reports that Jaromir Jagr thinks the Rangers opponent might be a former team..."That would probably be good for us," Rangers captain Jaromir Jagr said yesterday of the prospect of hosting Philadelphia. "But it's a long shot. I still think we might play Pittsburgh."
John Dellapina at the Daily News has a nice feature on Ryan Callahan..."According to NHL rules, Callahan still was considered a rookie this season, one of four on the Rangers. But among those four, Callahan truly is the only one who brought significant NHL playoff experience into this postseason. So it probably made sense that he was the one who displayed big-game savvy to both open the first round with his Game 1 sneak-attack goal against Martin Brodeur and close the series with that one-man-gang act that killed nearly an entire shift late in Friday night's clinching Game 5."
At the New York Post, Larry Brooks notes the attacking style on display in the playoffs..."There has been more emphasis on forechecking and pressuring the puck during the first round of the playoffs across the league than there was during the regular season. Scoring is not up - 5.41 goals per game through Saturday as opposed to 5.57 during the season - but the amount of play in the neutral zone is sure down."
Lynn Zinser at the New York Times reports on Dubinsky and Staal thriving after unlucky bounces..."...each also had to overcome having a Devils goal bounce into their net off of them, a devastating feeling they responded to with goals of their own. Staal scored the winner in Game 4 after the Devils’ overtime winner hit his skate in Game 3, and Dubinsky changed a fluky shot from center ice into a Devils goal in Game 5, only to score an empty-netter to seal the game."
