Your Daily Avery Fix

John Rolfe at SI.com has today's feature on Sean Avery...

"I understand the need to keep a lid on Avery's antics, but a little here and there can be a plus. I suspect that more than a few eyes that wouldn't ordinarily watch hockey will take a peek at the Rangers-Pens series, especially if Avery starts getting friendly with Crosby or goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury and the slur starts to fly along with the ink and the wind from sports talk shows."

...I find it hilarous that Avery has become the poster boy for the NHL. The hockey media absolutely loves him and are running a new story on him every day. I think the only person who doesn't get his appeal is Bettman.

A bunch of NY Ranger fans were discussing avery on the IAMRANGER network right here: http://iamaranger.rangers.nhl.com/IceHokkie

I think Avery likes the attention. Plus all of his antics and interest in fashion make him very appealing to the press.

He absolutely loves the press, which is why Sather actually might have the upper hand in contract negotiations because Avery will not get this kind of press if he plays in any other city.
