...got to figure the offer is two-years $3 million per. Which I'd be all for.

The fact there has been no interest on the Kings part to re-sign this guy, to me, is a huge red flag. As of late, Lombardi seems to have a pretty good handle on how spend money wisely. What does it say when a team made up of good young players is turning its back on a long time vet?
I'm all for this, I mean its useless for frolov he should know rangers arnt going anywhere the next couple years. I mean at 3 mil a year its a steal for us but I think if he really wanted to win he'd go to a conteder for a cheap price but who know maybe he hasn't received offers for a reason. I look at it this way we're on the same boat with or without frolov, only thing to do is hope for this team to have some sort of chemistry

that isnt fair to frolov at all...so the kings have no interest in signing him? teams take different routes, players take different routes..it happens in pro sports...its not always about the talent/money aspect of the game...maybe frolov somehow just didnt fit in with the organization? it could be a plethra of different reasons..
and im with kev on this one...sign him, especially if it means reddens heading to hartford...
so basically your choice is...frolov or redden.

While I'll remain optimistic, this guy could turn out to be another Zherdev . . . if he comes to New York the price better be right and he better know he's got to work.
I'm still interested in Brad Richards. Obviously a more complicated deal, but could be a more productive acquisition if a deal could be met. He could be the play-making center we've been waiting for.
On the other hand, if Frolov can come in and score, I'd be happy. Maybe Frolov, MZA, and Dubi can all net 25 while Gabby hits 40 again.

I hear you Andrew. Just in this instance you have a team, that has a large amount of cap space, turning it's back on a player that a) has been there for his entire career and b) fills team needs such as veteran presence and scoring. The knock on him last year was he took too many shifts off. Perhaps they want him out because of his attitude.
Look, if Sather can get him for cheap, I guess you can say "why not?" But for anything more that $3mil for next year? That's too much of a cap hit especially if the ceiling is lowered. Maybe a prospect, if given the opportunity, takes that spot.
And for the record, I'm down with anything that gets Redden out of here. Hell, I'll drive him to the airport.

Right now all we can do is wait and see what happens, but if we sign him, I'm definitely rooting for the guy.
Regardless of whether the Rangers are contenders or not, don't underestimate the draw for a Russian player to come to NY, a truly international city with a huge Russian community. Even for less money, it's a great place to play. Management hasn't been stellar in building a team, but players are treated well and the whole world watches when you rock MSG.
Frolov's "attitude" came because Murray, the Kings' coach, had him playing a third line checking role — only because he's a big guy who you can't knock off the puck (think Jagr). Quite a few players have had problems with Murray.
Sure, he can do that on a "bad" year and get 50+ points. He should be a second line scoring player on the Rangers, def. not a third liner. Frolov is a beast and is heads and shoulders better than Zherdev (the comparison is insane).

Frolov has signed a 1 yr. deal with the Rangers not bad we got him cheap waiting to hear the specifics but its a done deal.
I'm pretty excited for Frolov if we get him. We all know we need some offense..

the similarily to jokinen could be how long it took - like 3 days after it was pretty much announced. the calgary guys even played a game up there after the deal was done
