John Kreiser at NHL.com takes a look at which players are going to be under pressure to perform this season and lists Marian Gaborik...Marian Gaborik, New York Rangers -- Here's a scary thought for Rangers fans: Gaborik had 42 goals, stayed healthy enough to play 76 games -- and the team still missed the playoffs. With no new offensive savior on the horizon and no one else on the roster who scored more than 20 goals, Gaborik will have to do at least as well (and stay at least as healthy) in his second season in the Big Apple as he did in his first for the Rangers to get back into the playoffs.
...despite all the rumors this summer about the Rangers interest in players such as Richards, Frolov, etc. I still don't see Sather bringing anyone in, meaning Gaborik will be relied on heavily to carry the offensive load once again.
...i said this yesterday, guys like Dubinsky, Callahan, Anisimov and Drury are really going to have to step it to alleviate some of this pressure off of Gaborik. It's just not fair that he will be counted on night in and night out.

I can see adding a player like Frolov for a two year stint at around 3.5-4M tops. Maybe adding that skillset creates opportunities for other players to step up their game as well. Only thing that scares me is the inconsistency that his game brings.

Enough with all the D-men and young kids already, this team needs another goal scored and/or playmaker. Period.
Remember how many 1-0, 2-1 games the Rangers lost last year? Ugh.
Jack, Rangers cant afford another goal scorer. Get used to the current roster.
What about Christensen? To be honest I hope he does well this year, as last year he did pretty well near the end of the season and I don't think he played alot at the start? Don't you think he can be top 3 scoring/assists ?
i'm sorry to me Frolov is just Zherdev the redux this does not excite me. He's another in the long line of soft russian players & I have no interest in going down that road again, Ponikarovsky I'll pass on him as well the guy is an enigma the guy has a big body at 6'4" 225 but plays a lot smaller than that, he disappeared once he went to the Pens. If we cant gwt another top line player like Brad Richards or Ryan Getzlaf I'd just as soon stay the course & see who's out there at the trade deadline. Enough talk about

I like where your head's at; I want to see all our guys do well.
I'd like to think Christensen could be top 3 scoring/assists. In his previous seasons with other teams he never managed to quite find his game, he got lost in the shadows, and it wasn't so much for a lack of skill but that those teams were focused on their star players.
Christensen has a lot of ability and he has a real opportunity here. I'd love to see him step-up and show us all what he's made of.
That's a big "We'll see . . . "
