Again, we need a setup man and/or goal scorer. The kids can only do so much — IF they even get ice time.

I'm not saying Demitra was the answer — but unless the Rangers prospects are Calder candidates or Stamkos or Tavares this team needs another proven goal scorer.
Can we get an idea of who the Rangers should get to pick up the slack so this isn't Team Gaborik redux?
Im hopeful for improved years from both Callihan and Duby. 25-30goals for each. Anisimov will improve a bit, If we are lucky he could reach 20. Would be nice to have another 30 goal guy dont get me wrong. Maybe Frolov is still in play.
Nice of the KHL to help take the temptation away from Sather! Pavol Demitra was not the secondary scoring the Rangers need!
ican't see either cally or dubinsky anywhere close to 30 goals. its one thing to be hopeful its another to be realistic
It seems pretty clear to me that the Rangers are not in the Kovy stakes so either go out and sign Ponikerovsky or go after Svatos (my choice) and get some goals on the board!! Johnny Madden could be a great UFA at a fair price too!
If we are lucky to dump Redden's contract, Grebeshkov could fill in nicely as a puck moving DMan ...

I understand being happy they didnt bother with Demitra, but why are you giving Sather credit?

I think Duby and Callahan are capable of giving us CLOSE to 30... I really think that is realistic... 26-29 goals... I think they both have the ability to do so...30 on a really good year.

ivanyr - i don't see even 25 goals for either except maybe once in the career maybe if fortune smiles bright. a good yr for either is 18-22 and we should be happy with that.
Maybe I am too optimistic. We will see at the end of this season I guess. Hope you are wrong... will probably be right...
FWIW Chicago had five players who scored twenty goals or more last year.
My comment on Demitra is that he played for his country well but he didn't play for his paycheck to the same degree. I believe it was quite obvious to those who would sign his paycheck.
