Rangers vs. Flyers Preview

Today the New York Rangers (33-24-8) host the Philadelphia Flyers (33-25-7). The Flyers will be lookingto win their fourth straight game after a 10-game losing streak (0-8-2). The Flyers are just one point behind the Rangers, but jumping ahead of their Atlantic Division rivals on Sunday won’t be easy. New York has also won three straight and is 6-0-2 over its last eight. Henrik Lundqvist is 8-3-1 with a 2.96 GAA in 13 career starts against the Flyers but lost 6-2 in his last meeting with them on Jan. 10 at Madison Square Garden. Flyers goalie Martin Biron, meanwhile, has started each of his team’s last three wins but said Saturday he wasn’t sure whether he would start against New York. He is 0-3-1 with a 2.89 GAA in his last five appearances against the Rangers. The Rangers have yielded just two power-play goals on 16 chances in their last five games. ...what I find amazing is that this team is on runs of 6-0-2 and 11-3-2 and if they lose today they'll be in eighth place. I guess that's what happens when you take two months off.

...the Flyers come in looking like they've righted the ship after a 10 game losing streak. Hopefully they'll be tired after yesterday's game against the Islanders.

...the Flyers have lost a lot of offense to injury this year, but they just picked up Vaclav Prospal and his 29 goals from Tampa at the trade deadline, so if the Rangers aren't ready there is plenty of offense on Philly to beat us.

...not sure what the Rangers lineup will look like today. Steve Zipay from Blue Notes says that Renney was pushing Orr hard in practice yesterday, so hopefully he'll be ready to go in what should be a physical game. I'd like to see Sjostrom on the other wing.

...I'll have more when available.
