Back in the Saddle

Last night the New York Rangers (38-26-9) defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins (41-25-7) by a score of 5-2. For a full recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

- Sean Avery scored two goals for the third time in the last 14 games and has now scored 10 goals in his last 15 games.

- Chris Drury had 2 assists giving him 299 for his career.

- Henrik Lundqvist made 22 saves for his 100th career win. He's the fastest Rangers goalie to 100 wins, needing 187 games. Mike Richter took 198.

- The Rangers power play went 0-2 and are now 1 for their last 19.

- Evgeni Malkin had 0 pts., 1 sog and was a -1.

- Marek Malik was a +3.

- Other Rangers goals were scored by Ryan Callahan, Fred Sjostrom and Martin Straka.

...what an outstanding bounce back effort last night (minus the second period). While the Rangers have been far too inconsistent for me to think they're going to sustain this inspired play, if they do, its going to be another great spring for Ranger fans.

..."Re-Sign Avery." Since I wasn't at the game last night I wanted to make sure my voice was heard. Great to see in numerous publications that Avery acknowledged the Garden Faithful's chants. Hopefully Sather was listening as well.

...I refuse to believe another team has better rookies than the Rangers do. Dubinsky was an absolute wrecking ball last night, Dawes led the team with four shots on goal and Callahan scored his seventh goal since coming back from Hartford on February 3rd.

...glad to see Straka get off the schnied last night. I haven't seen him skate with such determination in a while. Nice to see him rewarded with a beautiful redirection goal to cap off a strong night.

...with some whispers that Renney was thinking about getting Hollweg back in the lineup after Saturday's uninspired loss to Tampa it was great to see Sjostrom score last night ensuring Hollweg's place in the press box for the rest of the season.

...can someone please tell Lundqvist to stop playing the puck.

...and the #1 reason we won last night...Marek Malik back in the lineup.

Malik played his best game as a Ranger. I love the balace scoring getting goals from 3 different lines. Even the 4th line is chipping in.
