Pack's Liffiton Out for Season

Bruce Berlet at The Hartford Courant reports...

"Pack defenseman Dave Liffiton's season is over because of lingering concussion symptoms.

But Liffiton is encouraged after visiting a neurological specialist in Denver for two days this week."It's tough living in the dark, not really knowing what's going on," he said. "I've got to continue to take it easy for a while and just look toward next season. That's not easy, but I look at things as half full rather than half empty."

Liffiton was injured in the eighth game of the season Oct. 27, then missed the next 34 before returning Jan. 19. But after 13 more games, the concussion symptoms returned after a fight. He finishes with two assists, 52 penalty minutes and a plus-6 rating."

...hate to hear that a young player is suffering from concussion symptoms. We've all seen with Richter, Lindros and LaFontaine what concussions can do to a career.

...smart move to shut it down. Not so smart move to get into a fight after suffering from a concussion.

...hopefully Liffiton can made a full recovery as he has a chance to make the team next year with the possible departure of free agents such as Rozsival, Malik and Mara.
