Something Bruin

Yesterday the New York Rangers (36-24-9) defeated the Boston Bruins (36-26-7) 1-0 in a shootout. Nigel Dawes scored the lone goal in the tiebreaker and helped the Rangers salvage one game in the four-game season series with the Bruins (1-1-2). New York is 9-0-3 in its last 12 and 14-3-3 in its previous 20. Through regulation, Auld made 34 saves. He was matched by Lundqvist, who stopped 27 Bruins shots. Boston held a 2-1 edge in overtime. Lundqvist turned aside Marco Sturm, Phil Kessel and David Krejci in the shootout. Kessel had scored in each of the Bruins’ two shootout wins this season over New York in Boston, including a 1-0 win in October. For a full recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

...what an absolutely awesome game between two teams fighting for playoff position. I don't remember a game with better goaltending than that one. Lundqvist and Auld were amazing. If that was a playoff game it would have gone on all night.

...haven't seen a goaltending performance from Lundqvist like that since November. The last two games are great signs that Henrik has snapped out of his three month malaise. You can just see the confidence he has in his game right now.

...after another shootout goal by Nigel "Automatic" Dawes, I'm trying to get reinstated as President of his fan club.

...after all the games this weekend it looks like the Rangers have a strangle hold on a playoff position (7 points ahead of 9th place Buffalo) and are now playing for seeding. A win against Buffalo tonight would put us into a fifth place tie with Ottawa and pretty much clinch a spot in the big dance.
